hcc

Holy Cross College is a Catholic community of high education that forms competent minds and courageous hearts for leading purposeful lives. The college advances the apostolic mission of the Brothers of Holy Cross through a practical, experiential, liberal arts curriculum that applies principles to contemporary life in the world.  It was founded in Notre Dame Indiana in 1966. The weather is amazing including a Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Changing seasons may be a good opportunity for endowing human and spiritual formation. Welcome to My eFolio

Spring

My name is Anh Thi Kim Tran, O.P., but I am known as Sr. Kim. I come from Vietnam. I will graduate from Holy Cross College in May with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Theology and a minor in Philosophy. The following fall, I will attend a graduate school at the University of Notre Dame to study for a Master's Degree of Divinity. As a disciple of Christ, I feel that God is calling me home to teach theology in my country with compassion serving family life, especially women.

I am one of eight children. I was born in Hai Phong City, also known as Thanh Pho Hoa Phuong Do, which means Red Phoenix Flower, in Northern Vietnam. As a child, I went to school and participated in many activities at my local parish. It was there that I began to learn about the Vatican Council II and studied the Bible. I sang in the choir, assisted in Catechism classes, joined many volunteer groups, and traveled outside the city to the villages.  The more I visited the villages, where many people were so poor that their houses did not have a door to close, the more my heart was filled with a desire to help them.

After high school, I went to college in South Vietnam, where I met a Sister of St. Francis.  She invited me to visit her convent and a conversation with her stirred my heart. From that moment on, I began to consider religious life as my vocation. On the advice of a parish priest, I entered a Dominican convent and became a Dominican Sisters of Saint Rosa of Lima, an order that is in Vietnam. I have been spreading the mission and ministering for many years, and the call to teaching has taken me to Holy Cross College.

I am grateful for everything that I have received in order to become a better daughter of the Church. My heart has grown in love and my mind has cultivated true knowledge and the teaching of the Church.  I am excited to share with you what is found on the following sections of my e-folio! Snow
The First Semester

The first time I read Gaudium et Spes from Vatican Council II, this statement touched my heart and formed my actions. I took the first line of this document as a theme of my life even before entering the religious life. It has been through my Congregation and its ministries that I have acted upon it. My themes is:

"The joys and the hopes, the griefs and the anxieties of the men of this age, especially those who are poor or in any way afflicted, these are the joys and the hopes, the griefs and anxieties of the followers of Christ. Nothing genuinely human fails to raise an echo in their hearts"

(Gaudium et Spes, 1).
